Acupuncture

Acupuncture works by gently inserting tiny needles in specific places to evoke biological responses like a release of endorphins for pain relief, regulate hormones for women’s issues or weight loss, optimize the immune system for allergies or autoimmune conditions or even regulate neurotransmitters to reduce stress, improve sleep and help with depression or anxiety. This is even measurable on blood tests and MRIs. We have 2 treatment rooms, and each acupuncture time is 40-50 minutes.

Cupping

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage.

Chinese Herb

Traditional chinese herbal medicine is often an important part of an effective treatment plan. When many people think of herbal medicine, they think of taking a single herb for a specific health problem. However, Chinese herbology is quite a bit different. In Chinese herbal medicine, herbs are generally prescribed in a formula which can be a combination of up to 20 different substances. These herbs work in unison to address the specific needs of each individual patient.

About Us

ZhongJing Acupuncture Clinic was established in 2018. It is a professional acupuncture clinic located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Acupuncture is a unique method of treating diseases in China. It is a "treatment from the outside and the inside" method of treatment. It treats systemic diseases through the action of meridians and acupoints, as well as the application of certain techniques. Clinically, diagnose the cause of the disease according to the diagnosis and treatment methods of Chinese medicine, find out the key to the disease, identify the nature of the disease, determine which meridian and viscera the disease belongs to, and identify whether it belongs to the external and internal, cold and heat, and deficiency and excess types. Out of the diagnosis. Then carry out the corresponding prescription of acupoints and conduct treatment. The meridian can be adjusted to regulate qi and blood so that yin and yang can be brought into relative balance, so that the functions of viscera and organs tend to be harmonized, so as to achieve the purpose of preventing and curing diseases. Acupuncture and moxibustion are part of the heritage of traditional Chinese medicine, and it is also a unique ethnic medical method in my country. For thousands of years, he has made outstanding contributions to human health and physical fitness.

FAQ

Acupuncture healing is founded on a theory that electromagnetic energy runs through our body and helps our body stay balanced and healthy. When the energy flow is disrupted by internal disharmony or external cause, our body displays ‘alarm signs’ that something is wrong. Some 5,000 years ago, Chinese healers discovered distinct energy pathways. These pathways, or vessels, may be likened to electrical antennas sending electromagnetic vibrational waves throughout the body. The energy surfaces in precisely located neurovascular nodes (points) which are needled using extremely thin, sterile and disposable pins to a precise depth at a precise angle. Acupuncture treatment protocols can be based on empirical (observational) evidence or research based evidence.  Some research suggests that Acupuncture can stimulate the communication pathways in the body to assist with a variety of health concerns. The relaxation of an acupuncture session in itself may be considered healing, with most clients feeling calm, grounded and even elated after Acupuncture treatment.

Yes, acupuncture generally is considered safe and is regulated in North America. To ensure competency, acupuncturists must go through several years of training and must be licensed before they are able to practice in public.

Acupuncture uses fine metallic needles which is usually quite painless or one might just feel a small prick upon insertion. The sensation should not be compared with syringe needles that are used in vaccination or blood tests (needles are much thicker). However, different people may also feel differently depending on how relaxed or nervous they are. Stress and nervousness usually causes muscle to tense up causing you to feel more pain or discomfort during needle insertion. Always notify your practitioner whenever you feel painful or uncomfortable.

The whole process usually takes around 45-60 mins.  This includes consultation (first time visit may take longer), acupuncture treatment, and if necessary, other services such as cupping, Tui-na, moxibustion etc.  Usually 5-10 treatments are considered one set of therapy. Depending on the situation (acute or chronic/ mild or severe), the treatment period may vary for each individual. It is recommended to visit at least once a week for normal cases and severe cases twice or thrice a week.

So far Saskatchewan Health Card doesn't cover acupuncture, but many insurance plans offer coverage for acupuncture treatment.

Contact your insurance company directly to find out if your plan covers acupuncture, and any limits to the number of treatments covered.
